About Pelagos

We built Pelagos because compliance shouldn't feel like guesswork.

Maritime compliance is one of those problems that everyone in the industry knows is broken, but nobody has fixed properly. Documents live in shared drives, emails, and folders that haven't been opened in months. When an inspection comes, the scramble begins.

Teams spend weeks pulling together evidence, cross-referencing KPIs against framework requirements, and hoping nothing gets missed. We know this because one of us lived it for fifteen years.

The problem was obvious. The solution wasn't.

Pelagos started with a conversation between three people — one who spent over fifteen years in maritime operations and knew exactly where compliance breaks down, and two who spent just as long building technology products and knew what it takes to solve complex problems with software.

The maritime industry doesn't need another generic document tool. It doesn't need a dashboard with charts that look impressive but don't change how work gets done. What it needs is a system that understands how compliance actually works — the frameworks, the KPIs, the evidence chains, the disputes, the submissions — and makes the entire process clear, manageable, and trustworthy.

That's what we set out to build.

A compliance assistant, not a replacement. We use AI to do the heavy lifting. But the final call is always yours.

Pelagos reads your documents, maps them against TMSA, DryBMS, and SIRE, and shows you exactly where you stand. But it doesn't make compliance decisions for you. It gives you the clarity to make them with confidence.

This matters to us. We didn't build Pelagos to be a black box that spits out a score and asks you to trust it. Every finding comes with reasoning. Every KPI links back to the evidence. If something doesn't look right, you can dispute it, add context, and tell your own compliance story. The system works for you, not the other way around.

We take your data seriously because we think software should.

Your compliance documents — your SMS manuals, your procedures, your audit records — are some of the most sensitive information your company holds. We treat them that way.

This isn't a feature we added. It's how the product was designed from day one. We believe software should serve the people who use it, and the moment it stops doing that, it's broken.

Private by default. No toggles, no opt-ins.

Your documents are never used to train AI models.

Your data is never shared with other customers.

No hidden behaviors, no data extraction, no tricks.

What belongs to you stays with you.

We care about the details because they add up.

Building software for an industry as demanding as maritime means there's no room for shortcuts. The product has to be reliable — because compliance deadlines don't wait for bug fixes. It has to be fast — because nobody should spend thirty seconds waiting for a page to load when they're preparing for an inspection. And it has to be thoughtful — because the difference between software that works and software you actually want to use comes down to the hundreds of small decisions that most people never notice.

We notice them. And we care about every one.
